Christine Lagarde is seeking the way out of the crisis
Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), made the following statement in Washington, D.C. on February 27, 2014:
«Today, the Ukrainian authorities requested the IMF support. We are ready do it. A group of IMF experts will be sent to Ukraine in coming days. This will allow the IMF to make an independent assessment of the economic situation in Ukraine.
Besides, the IMF’s team will lead preliminary discussions with the state authorities, as far as it is necessary to review all political reforms premised for the IMF financial aid program.
We are also going to discuss with all our international partners the situation in Ukraine and seeking the methods to support best in this critical moment the country faces.
In this connection, we are glad to inform that many countries and financial institutions want to opt in».
