The government of the Czech Republic will support the Ukrainian infrastructure
On Wednesday, March 12, the Czech government confirmed the transfer of 1,8 mln euros of a financial support to Ukraine. Minister for Human Rights Jiri Dienstbier reported the allocated funds will be used for health, education and social projects throughout the country, Prague Daily Monitor says.
Mr. Dienstbier noted the state had earlier remitted around 700 ths euros within the program for medical evacuations and medical care for people injured in Euromaidan. Currently, 38 Ukrainians are undergoing medical treatment in the Czech Republic.
The financial aid to Ukraine will be given to the government and Ministry of Interior of Ukraine. The Ukrainian government will manage the said funds. The money is expected to be spent on implementation of the projects chosen by the government during bidding. The Czech ministers underscored that the government of Ukraine should allocate some funds for sponsoring the Czech companies running business on the territory of Ukraine. Accordingly, these organizations can cooperate with the Ukrainian companies, while carrying out the infrastructure development projects in Ukraine.
Some funds are planned to be spent on the long-term program for civil society support, in the sphere of human rights and civil liberties, as well as for embedding the principles to combat corruption. Besides, some other amount will be used for grants awarded to the Ukrainian students, especially those hurt in clashes during protests.
