Political provisions set forth in the association agreement will be signed till the end of the week

On Friday, March 21Prime-Minister of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk is going to sign a suite of documents relating the association with the EC during the EC summit that will be convened in Brussels on March 20- 21. This event will be attended by the heads of governments as well as Cabinet members of the European countries, according to Novinite.

After the talks having been carried out, Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and Prime-Minister of Poland Donald Tusk confirmed that provided that no technical obstacles will arise, some part of documents relating to the association agreement should be signed during the forthcoming meeting of the European Council.

The German web-based broadcaster Deutsche Welle cites the government officials of both states giving their comments during the negotiation process. Prime-Minister of Poland and Chancellor of Germany believe that signing of the association agreement is imperative and a top priority issue what should be done as quickly as possible, as long as this will support a new government of Ukraine.

Apart from the association agreement, Ms. Merkel and Mr.Tusk discussed the finance aid program that will allow renovating the Ukrainian financial system; they also touched upon the issue of sanctions that could be imposed on Russia due to the political situation in Crimea.

The voting on sanctions to be imposed on Russia will be held on March 17, i.e. probable freezing of bank accounts and prohibition of entry to the EC countries of the Russian politicians responsible for invasion to Crimea as well as those within Vladimir Putin’s inner circle.
