Previously the state's financial data were confidential
The Vatican bank (IOR) is going to report publicly on its activities. It is expected that at the end of 2013 the institution will open a website where it will publish its balance sheet and financial statements, announced the bank president Ernst von Freyburg.
Previously, all data on the bank’s transactions and financial position were non-public.
The Vatican resorts to such measures to fend off all suspicion of financial fraud and be included into the "white list" of the Council of Europe Select Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures (MONEYVAL).
