The cooperation with Russia is the key to many energy projects, Former RF Minister of Energy Igor Yusufov said to RIA News on Sunday.
Commenting on the appointment of the former CEO of ExxonMobil Rex Tillerson as US Secretary of State, Yusufov expressed confidence that “the business approach in solving any issues, declared by US President Donald Trump, will be fully reflected in the activities of the Department of State”. According to him, in order “to make America great”, they need a solid economic base, which will be significantly expanded, including through new energy projects”.
“The key to many energy projects is the cooperation with Russia, which is currently held back by the politically motivated sanctions”, Yusufov said, the current head of Energy Fund.
He also noted that he got acquainted with Tillerson in 2002 during his time as the minister, when Tillerson occupied the post of the senior vice-president of ExxonMobil. “In line of duty, I often had to have meetings with high-ranking officials, however, the impressions after such meeting were special: Tillerson knew well not only the wide range of energy issues, but also different spheres of the life of our country. It could not but win my favor to him”, Yusufiv admitted.
He assumed that during his time in the company, “Tillerson had meeting with presidents of different states more often than other presidents and prime ministers”, Former RF Minister of Energy noted.
