The employees of US intelligence agencies withheld confidential intelligence data from US President Donald Trump due to fears that they may be compromised and leak to mass media, RIA News reports quoting Wall Street Journal and some unnamed officials, familiar with the situation.

In some cases, the intelligence representatives decided not to inform Trump about the sources and methods, which US intelligences services use for obtaining information. These data, in particular, may contain information about media, with the help of which the surveillance over foreign countries is carried out. It is not made known how many times this information was withheld from Trump, the newspaper reports.

As the edition notes, previously, the intelligence officers also withheld similar information from the President and congressmen in order to keep its source in secret; however, they communicated the data, transferred to them. However, then, as the newspaper emphasizes, the decision was not caused by fears in the reliability and discretion of the president.

Previously, the unnamed US official told New York Times that the members of Trump’s presidential campaign allegedly repeatedly contacted with high-ranking officials of the Russian intelligence in 2016 before US elections. Trump called the leakage to mass media about “ties with Russian intelligence” as a crime.

RF Ministry of Internal Affairs called the media publication as one more evidence that the USA has internal political games and deal-making process. In its turn, the Kremlin emphasized that such messages are not supported by facts.
