The Americans have the lowest opportunities to increase its social status in comparison to other countries.
Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty Phillip Alston reported that in U.S., more than 40 million people or each eighth citizen of the country are below the poverty line, and this figure can increase due to the actions of U.S President Donald Trump, Correspondent.net reports.
“The American dream rapidly becomes the American illusion. It happens because now, in the U.S., people have the lowest opportunities to increase their social status in comparison to any other rick country of the world”, Alston said.
According to UN expert, regardless of the fact that U.S. is one of the wealthiest, powerful and technologically innovative countries in the world, neither its wealth, nor its power or technologies are not used for provision of aid to 40 million people, who lived in the poverty.
He is confident that due to Trump’s policy, the poverty in the country will only grow. In particular, according to Alston, a new approach of the White House in taxation can lead to destructive consequences for 20% of the poorest U.S. citizens.
