Roscomnadzor does not support possible imposition of additional legislative restrictions on VPN services due to blocking Telegram.
The initiative on blocking VPN services did not find support in Roscomnadzor, RIA News reported on Monday, April 16.
The agency considers that everything is in the laws, Head of the Agency Alexander Zharov said to RIA News.
According to Zharov, Roscomnadzor will not support implementation of additional measures. “No, all necessary authorities are already in legislation”, Zharov said. According to him, it is impossible to limit access to all VPN, to some – it is realistic.
On Friday, Deputy Chairman of Dumsky Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communication Vladimir Krupennikov stated to RIA News that due to blocking Telegram, State Duma will analyze the necessity to legislatively exclude the use of VPN-services.
Reportedly, after Telegram, the State Duma of Russia intends to block VPN.
It was previously reported that Russia started blocking Telegram.
