Instagram developers implemented a new function – Data Download, which helps to download all content from your profile.
It is also noted that the same function (Download Your Information) is available for Facebook users, RBC-Ukraine reports.
According to Instagram’s representative, currently, everyone can download data of their profiles through the social media’s desktop version, while iOS and Android mobile versions are still in development.
Reportedly, such information will allow users to download the information of the profile, photos, videos, messages, likes, search history, comments, stories from archive (from December 2017), names of followers as well as the profile settings.
It is emphasized that a new function was added as the General Data Protection Regulation.
The Regulation was approved by EU on April 27, 2016, and will come into force on May 25, 2018. GDPR is aimed at giving the citizens a control over their own personal data and simplifying a normative base for international economic relationships through the unification of regulation within the European Union.
The portal also reports that WhatsApp will provide the same service. However, the users will be able to download only their account’s information, including the photo, as well as group names, which they are following, but they will not be able to download messages.
