After the House of Representatives, U.S. Senate endorsed allocation of 250 million dollars of defense assistance to Ukraine, Embassy of Ukraine in the United States reports in Facebook.
“U.S. Senate endorsed the previously approved by the House of Representatives 2019 U.S. defense budget bill, which authorizes U.S. Department of Defense to allocate USD 250 mln for providing the defense assistance to Ukraine”, according to the message.
“Out of the specified amount, USD 50 mln should be allocated for lethal arms”, the diplomats emphasize.
According to them, the document includes the main provisions of the bill on cooperation with Ukraine in cybersecurity, which, in particular, provides the defense assistance to Ukraine in strengthening the defense capabilities against cyberattacks, ensuring security of the computer networks of state authorities, reducing dependency on the Russian information and communication technologies, promoting participation in the information exchange programs.
“The commitment of the United States of America to the United States-Ukraine Charter of Strategic Partnership, Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, the support of cooperation of our state with NATO is stated”, the Embassy reports.
It is also noted that the Department of State was assigned to present the report to the Senate on the status of cooperation with Ukraine in cybersecurity for searching new directions of such interaction and support.
According to the information from the embassy, currently, U.S. President Donald Trump should sign the U.S. 2019 defense budget bill.
