In Ukraine about 49,8% of adult population uses the Internet

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, evaluation of outcomes for the past year shows that gains from providing the Internet services in Ukraine grew by 5% this year as compared with 2012.  3,2 bln hryvnias out of total income making up 4,9 bln hryvnias are attributed to payments for services rendered for individuals, as reported by the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization of Ukraine.

In total, upon the results for 2013, the receipts from Internet services enabling informatization and communication exceeded 20,2 bln hryvnias.

Chair of Ukraine’s State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization Vladimir Seminozhenko noted that in 2013 the growth dynamics in receipts from providing the Internet services, their percentage, somewhat reduced, as compared with gains in 2012 (9,7%), or in 2011 (12%). Thus, upon the results for 2012 total income from providing the Internet services made up around  4,67 bln hryvnias, with  2,9 bln hryvnias obtained from services to individuals; in 2011 - 4,2 bln hryvnias and 2,6 bln hryvnias, respectively.

«In general, last year gains from providing Internet services grew, but if analyze and compare the growth dynamics in receipts over the past years, we’ll see that it has dropped. To fully comprehend the Internet access market situation, this data should be thoroughly examined by experts», - said Vladimir Seminozhenko.

Such a situation, particularly, can ensue from lowering of price for giving an access to the Internet to individuals. So long as extending the Internet audience is currently a hot topic, the Internet providers are trying to offer customers more attractive and affordable package of global net services. 

Chair of Ukraine’s State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization emphasized that in Ukraine a half of adults (49,8%) dwelling in the country used the Internet, according to the sociologists’ evaluations as of September 2013. Moreover, a number of Internet users are rapidly growing: in February 2012 – September 2013 their quantity rose by 16% that is slightly less than a huge upsurge by 34% for the period starting from March 2011 till February 2012 г.

It should be noted that during three quarters of the last year Ukrainian enterprises exported computer and information services in the amount of 764,2 mln dollars.
