HSBC analysts consider that namely Donald Trump became the reason for massive outflow of investors from US stock market and growth in popularity of investments in developing markets, despite their difficult situation – according to Vesti Economy’s materials.

The US markets decline after renewal of all-time maximums became the reason for serious concern of investors. According to ETF.com information, the shareholders of stock exchanges, investing in US shares, have started to massively withdraw funds.

First of all, the largest exchange-traded funds, for example, SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY), investing in S&P500 Index, fixed loss of USD 3.571 bln, have suffered. The outflow of money was fixed by the funds, investing in Russell2000 and Nasdaq Indexes, and the total outflow from ETF to US stock market exceeded USD 4 bln.

HSBC analysts relate it with the growth in popularity of Donald Trump: “After the Brexit referendum and growth in popularity of presidential candidate Donald Trump, the investors realized that the developed economies are also not immune to economic and political shocks. Why not to risk and invest in developing markets, which are growing faster?”

In his note to investors HSBC strategist Murat Ulgen explained that there’s paradoxical situation in the world, where risks, associated with developed markets, are higher than the risks, associated with developing economies.

Currently US policy remains the most actual for investors in anticipation of presidential elections. Meanwhile, Citi analysts do not consider that the risks, associated with Donald Trump, are exaggerated, although Clinton is expected to win.

Since the beginning of the year, MSCI Emerging Markets ETF Index has increased by 15.7%, Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF Index – by 16.3% and JP Morgan USD Emerging Markets Bond ETF Index – by 13.6%.
