Getting a passport in 10 days is no longer so simple
Since last week, the VVIRs (visa and registration offices) suspended acceptance of documents for execution of urgent foreign passports, which are issued within 10 days, as reported by Vesti.
The press center of the State Migration Service admitted that at the moment there is a peak in the number of submitted applications for passports, but could not give a clear answer as to why acceptance of documents was halted.
Sources in the agency clarified that the currently issuance of «urgent» passports in Kiev is indeed put on hold with similar problems in other big cities.
«We have no right to deny a person, but we can take their written note stating they know that the passport may be issued over a longer period. This is our peak load, already in August everything will be OK. This is a particularly hot summer, the first time when passports are issued not at place of residence, besides, there are approximately 1.5 times more applicants than last summer», said the source.
