The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) endorsed the Draft Law on Introduction of Amendments to the Code of Laws on Labour of Ukraine (regarding harmonization of legislation within the sphere of prevention and counteraction of discrimination with European Law union). The corresponding draft law №3442 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada today, on November 10, RBC-Ukraine (РБК-Украина) reports.
According to the draft law, any kind of discrimination is prohibited in the sphere of labour, in particular, the violation of principles of equality of rights and opportunities , direct or indirect restriction of the rights of employees depending on race, skin colour, political, religious and other convictions, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic, social and foreign origin.
The discrimination is also prohibited depending on the age, health condition, disability, suspicion or presence of HIV/AIDS, marriage and wealth status, family obligations, place of residence, membership in trade union or other association of citizens, participation in the strike, application or intention of application to the court or other bodies for protection of their rights or provision of support to other employees in protection of their rights, language or other characteristics, which are not related to the nature of work or its execution conditions.
