In 2013 it reached a record low level of sales
In 2013 the global shipments of personal computers declined by 10% compared to 2012. Then the values decreased by 3.9 %. This is a record decline in sales in the history of PC. The demand for computers is due to the increasing popularity of mobile phones, according to consulting firm Gartner.
In 2013 global PC shipments totaled 315.97 million units, comparing to 351.07 million in 2012. For example, sales of Taiwanese companies manufacturers of PC, Acer and Asus, fell by 28.1 % and 17.7 %, respectively.
To date, the market leader in personal computers is a Chinese company Lenovo, which has sold 53.27 million computers by 2013. Share of the market increased to 16.9 %. In second place is the U.S. company Hewlett Packard with a market share of 16.2 %, followed by an American corporation Dell (11,6%), Taiwan's Acer (8,1%) and Asus (6,3%).
Analysts predict that in 2014 computer sales will fall at least by another 3.8% from last year.
