Performance improved for the first time in three years
The industrial sector in Spain grew by 2.6% in annual terms compared to the previous year. The country managed to achieve improvements through increased taxes last year.
In late summer 2013 Spain emerged from a two-year recession thanks to exports and domestic demand recovery. However, the industry of the country is still struggling with the effects of a deep recession.
Economic growth in the third quarter of 2013 was 0.1%. Analysts believe that the positive data in industrial production will not significantly change the rate in the fourth quarter of 2013.
