$4.2 billion are in the accounts
On Sunday, January 12, the starting date of receiving parts of Iran’s funds, which have been frozen in overseas accounts, is now known. February 1 the country will have access to $550 million, as reported by Reuters.
November 24, 2013 countries that are members of the Six (USA, China, UK, Russia, France and Germany) discussed the possibility of unfreezing Iranian assets abroad. The countries agreed to open access to the money in the case if Iran cuts its nuclear program.
As part of reducing the country should cut its uranium enrichment up to 5 %, while today uranium is enriched up to 20%. In addition, the country is to suspend construction of reactors, and some plants are not to make new centrifuges.
The agreement will enter into force on 20 of January 2014. In case of successful completion of all requirements to reduce nuclear program, the schedule of payments is as follows:
February 1 - $550 million;
March 1 - $450 million (in the case of reduction of uranium enrichment in half );
March 7 - $550 million;
April 10 - $550 million;
April 15 - $450 million (in the case of enrichment reduction to 5%);
May 14 - $550 million;
June 17 - $550 million;
July 20 - $550 million.
