Facebook will block false information during the interim elections to U.S. Congress, Reuters reports.
Reportedly, during the information policy of the election campaign, which will continue in October and November, Facebook will delete false information regarding the voting rules, clashes at voting stations and possible queues…
Facebook’s decision can increase the cost of the election campaign for politicians.
“This decision is caused by the criticism against Facebook regarding the improper approach to controlling and filtrating fake news and false information which, according to many, influenced the results of presidential elections of 2016”, Reuters reports.
Reportedly, Facebook blocked over 800 pages and accounts of users for disseminating false information before interim elections to U.S. Congress.
The interim elections to U.S. Congress will be held on November 6. During the elections, all members of U.S. Congress’ House of Representatives as well as many senators and governors will be reelected.
