Consumption will increase by 132%
Electricity consumption in India will grow by 132 % to 2035. Thus, the country will overtake Russia (20 % increase), China (71%) and Brazil (71%) in the rate of increase in demand. This was announced in the global energy survey of British oil company BP.
Today, the world growth rate of electricity demand begins to decline. Basically, the developing countries, such as China and India, experience a great need for energy.
The report noted that from 2012 to 2035 the energy production in India shall increase by 112 % (from 344 million tons of oil equivalent to 729.4 million tons). In turn, consumption will increase by 132 %.
For seven years, India has become the third largest consumer of electricity in the world. It is expected that by 2020 the electricity demand will be 786.1 million tons of oil equivalent, to 2025 - 938.6 million tons, and in 2035 the country will use 1.3 billion tons of electricity, in oil equivalent.
India's share in global electricity consumption to 2035r will be 7%. It is the second largest figure among the BRICS countries after China (27%). Russia takes third place with 5% consumption.
Now the authorities of the country cut oil production by 25%, and increase the production of gas and coal at 44% and 116%, respectively. Coal remains the dominant fuel in India. By 2035r the resources share in the energy market will be equal to 66%. Renewable energy will be 10 %, and the position of the oil will be reduced to 4%.
