Economic Edition Wall Street Journal and Heritage Foundation Research Center published a ranking of economic freedom. The list includes most countries of the world.
Economic conditions in different countries evaluated on a 100-point scale and categorized. So, the list has 5 levels. Countries that scored more than 80 points, fall into the category of "free". Conversely, countries with scores less than 50 are considered to be under the repression.
Free countries
Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand and Canada occupied the first 6 positions in the category of free states.
Almost free
This category includes Chile, Ireland, the USA, Japan, UAE, Georgia, Qatar, South Korea, the majority of EU countries, and others.
Moderately free
Average freedom rating was awarded of Belgium, Bahamas, Latvia, Armenia, Israel, Cyprus, Peru, Spain, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, France, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Slovenia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other countries.
Non-free
The list of countries with low levels of economic freedom are Africa, South America, Greece, India, China, Russia, Belarus, etc. This group is the most numerous of those represented in the rankings.
Countries subject to economic repression
In addition to North Korea, Cuba and Iran, Ukraine appeared in this ranking with indicator of 49.3.
Today Ukraine holds the last place in Europe and 155-th in the world (out of 178) in terms of economic freedom for citizens. Last year the country was on the 161-th position.
