Outlook on the labor market is negative
International Labour Organization published a report on global trends in employment. The study says that despite the recovery of the world economy, the problem of lack of jobs is still relevant.
According to data for 2013, 6% of the world's population, or over 200 million people are unemployed. This figure is 5 million more than in 2012. The number of unemployed young people increased dramatically. Their number is three times higher than the unemployed adult population.
ILO economist, Christian Vehelan, co-author of the report on global trends in employment, warns of the unpleasant outlook for the labor market in 2014.
ILO forecasts that unemployment will continue to rise. By 2018 the number of people looking for work will be more than 215 million, despite the fact that the world organization plans to create 200 million jobs over the next four years. It would not be sufficient to provide a growing number of working-age population.
The poor and the young people shall suffer from unemployment the most. In African countries, about 77 % of the population believes that at any moment they can loose their job.
