As per the results of the meeting with US President-Elect Donald Trump, Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe assumed that he will not “fail” and could be trusted, BBC reports.
Abe also expressed confidence that his meeting with the Republican in New York Trump Tower was held in “warm and trust-based” atmosphere.
Previously, Trump also spoke that he admires Japan Prime Minister; however, he repeatedly indulged to scornfully speak about main allies of the United States in Asia.
In addition, the Republican accused Tokyo and Seoul that they do not allocate enough money for supporting US military forces, totaling 80 ths soldiers.
During his pre-election campaign, Trump usually criticized the free trade agreement, concluded upon the initiative of Barack Obama with Japan and 10 other countries of the Asian Pacific region.
In Japan, Trump’s statements fueled concerns that Japan and South Korea should exert more efforts to protect themselves.
