Chair of the Federal Reserve System claimed that she does not intend to step down, in spite of Donald Trump’s victory at US presidential elections, Take-profit.org reports.
The new president spoke critically about Yellen’s activities, accusing her of political engagement, and argued that he intends to demote her from the occupied position.
The fears emerged that in such situation FRS Chair can step down before her term is done.
However, Janet Yellen objected, noting that she was appointed by the Senate for a 4-year period, which will expire in January 2018.
Even if Trump demotes her from the occupied position, Yellen will remain in the Federal Reserve Board of Governors until 2024.
“The markets expect low and stable inflation from the central bank, which has the political independence, which we can observe in the USA”, she states.
