This week US President-Elect reported that he is actively working not to allow transfer of some production facilities of Carrier A.C. from Indiana to Mexico, TASS reports.
The former participant of pre-election race among democrats and the senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders suggested that US President-Elect Donald Trump should deprive United Technologies, intending to transfer some part of business, of public contracts. The legislator published the relevant statement on Saturday.
Previously, this week, Trump reported that he actively works on how not to allow transfer of some part of production facilities of Carrier A.C., specializing on the production of conditioners and being one of the divisions of United Technologies, from Indiana to Mexico.
Sanders approved this initiative of the Republican and advised him to threaten the company that it will obtain no more profitable contracts from Pentagon. “I encourage Trump to make it clear for the CEO of United Technologies that if his firm wants to obtain defense contracts from taxpayers of this country, then it should not transfer plants to Mexico”, the Senator noted.
During the pre-election race, Trump regularly criticized companies, which transfer their production facilities or headquarters from the USA to other states for decreasing tax burden. The Republican promised many times that when he becomes the President, he will undertake measures against such firms and impose new duties for their products.
During the campaign, Sanders, who competed with Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the preliminary intraparty stage of pre-election race among democrats, upheld the same position; however, he dropped out of race. Previously, in November, the Senator claimed that he is ready to become the Trump’s ally, if he determines to weaken the positions of large corporations in the country.
“If Trump has enough nerve to face off against corporations, then he will have me as an ally”, the legislator emphasized. The Senator also noted that he also approves other items of the social and economic agenda of US President-Elect. They include initiatives, aimed at lowering cost of pharmaceuticals, increasing minimum labor payment as well as imposition of duties for products of companies, which transfer production facilities from the USA to other states for decreasing tax burden.
