The producer of the virtual reality headset Oculus, belonging to Facebook, should pay half a billion dollars to Zenimax under the court decision.
Zenimax claimed in court that its early designs were copied by Oculus employees for manufacturing virtual reality headset Rift.
The jurors found Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey guilty of violating the non-disclosure agreement. However, the guilt of defenders on trade secret infringement was not approved.
Oculus notes that the court did not satisfy main charges of the claimant. «The matter was: if Oculus really stole Zenimax data, protected by trade secret, and on this issue the juror delivered judgment in our favor», Press Secretary of Oculus said.
The claimant claimed 2 billion dollars from Oculus. Facebook paid the same amount to Oculus under the transaction of acquisition of the manufacturer of virtual reality headset.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg denied charges that Oculus products are manufactured based on someone else’s technology.
