The green card holders from seven Muslim countries, citizens of which are prohibited from entering the USA, can freely visit America, Press Secretary of the White House Sean Spicer said, BBC reports.
On January 27, US President Donald Trump signed the decree, according to which all refugee admissions programs are suspended for 120 days, and the citizens of seven Muslim countries are prohibited from entering the USA for 90 days.
The Trump’s decision sparked multiple protests across the USA. One of the most controversial provisions was that the green card holders from Muslim countries, mentioned in the decree, were also prohibited from entering, though the availability of green card actually means the permission to domicile in the USA.
Later, the White House explained that green card holders can get to the USA for 90 days, submitting the application for visa waiver program.
On February 1, Spicer specified that green card holders do not need to submit such application, they can enter the USA unimpeded. The relevant amendments will be introduced to the Presidential Decree.
The Trump’s decree sparked protests of the civil community, officials and business executives. The top managers of large healthcare, technology and educational companies criticized the decree, noting that immigration restrictions will hamper them from employing qualified workers.
Washington, Massachusetts, New York and Virginia intend to challenge the Trump’s decree in the court.
