US Congress approved the draft law on countering the hidden influence of the Russian Federation.
The House of Representatives passed the draft law, which extends government efforts on countering the hidden Russia’s influence on the internal policy of the USA and other countries, Correspondent.net reports quoting the Associated Press.
“On Wednesday, the House of Representatives passed the draft law about the intelligence policy, which increases efforts made against Russia’s potential hidden influence campaign over the USA and other countries as well as looks to increase the Congress’ control over US intelligence services”, according to the message.
The two-party draft law concerns the responses to national security threats, the activities of US intelligence society as well as its control from the Congress. The document includes the classified application, which will not be promulgated.
The draft law is expected to be approved in the Senate this week.
The document also stipulates countering terrorist attacks and should contribute to the fighting against terrorists in Iraq, Syria, North Africa and other countries.
As Correspondent.net reported, the US Special Operations Command determines the level of threat from Russia as one of the highest, being in one list with challenges of extremist and terrorist groups.
Previously, Defense Secretary James Mattis said that Russia is the biggest threat for the USA. In his opinion, Americans should interact with Russia so as they did during the times of the Cold War.
