Intel, U.S. largest producer of microprocessors, decided to liquidate its Ukrainian representative office.
The other day, the partners, cooperating with local office, received an e-mail, requesting to return product samples “due to liquidation of Intel Ukraine”, HB reports quoting ain.ua.
However, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Intel’s legal entity is not currently being closed.
“The company does not comment its business solutions. As of October 4, nothing changed in operation of Ukrainian office”, Intel’s Territory Manager for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Dmitry Kalita commented the situation.
Intel’s representative office in Ukraine was set up in 1992, and, in early 2000s, its area of responsibility also included Belarus and Moldova. The sale and support are the main functions of the office. For years of work, he cooperated in different spheres with the state, implemented initiatives in education, supported local measures.
According to data from the intelligence firm IDC, after the downfall of PC market during 2013-2015, starting from the previous year one of main markets for Intel demonstrated growth. Thus, during the 1st half year of 2017, the supplies of computers to Ukraine increased versus the last year by 27.3%, up to 550 ths devices. The servers’ market grew by 20% for the same period, making it almost $19 mln.
