Telegram Messenger’s users started obtaining fake emails, offering to participate in the launch of cryptocurrency Gram and blockchain platform Telegram Open Network (TON), Kod Durova Channel reports, RIA News writes.
In the email, the unknown persons, introducing themselves as the members of TON team, offer to participate in the preliminary sale of Gram cryptocurrency tokens. The coin, as the swindlers say, will be placed on the exchange from February 1, 2018, and the “chosen users” can purchase it for 15 cents per unit.
The “project” has the site. The section “Team” indicates the real developers of Telegram; the fragment of presentation of Gram and TON, which previously appeared in mass media, is also published there. In addition, according to the data of the service of registration of domain names, the fraudulent website was registered on January 6, 2018, by anonymous users.
In early January, the portal TechCrunch reported about Telegram’s plans to launch the own cryptocurrency and blockchain-platform of the third generation. According to the edition, the company expects to attract up to USD 500 million at the pre-sale, and in future, the total amount of placement will be three-five billion dollars.
