Both leaders showed a decline in sales
Analyst firm IDC has provided a report on the smartphone market for the II quarter, according to which Samsung is still ahead of Apple, but both leaders showed a decline in sales, RBC-Ukraine informs.
According to document, the total market share of South Korea's Samsung for April-June this year fell from 32.2% to 30%. Moreover, in quantitative terms, supply of company grew from 50.3 million to 72.4 million units. It is noted that increase in supply was secured not only with the novelty Galaxy S4, but with Galaxy S3, on which Samsung offered considerable discounts.
Concerning a share of Californian Apple, in the past quarter, it fell from 16.6% to 13.1%. Supply grew from 26 million to 31.2 million smartphones, which makes Apple's second largest manufacturer of smartphones. IDC experts note that sales growth is minimal for Apple for all company's presence in the smartphone market.
Other manufacturers of smart phones, such as LG, Lenovo and ZTE, showed as increased market share and increased supply. According to the report, totally in the II quarter on world market there have been sold 237.9 million smartphones, which is 52% more than a year earlier. Last year the figure was 156.2 million pieces.
