Decision expected by 4 September
Finance ministers of the Group of Twenty (G20) are to determine how to respond to the collapse of the Federal Reserve program of quantitative easing (QE) by the evening 4 September 2013, Deputy Finance Minister Serhii Storchak told journalists, RBC-Ukraine reports.
«The tone in discussions of quantitative easing in many respects depends on how the work will go on the wording of final statement (of G20 leaders). Deputy Finance Ministers and Sherpas are coming to St. Petersburg next month. In the afternoon they will begins «rafting» on macroeconomic topic. In fact, this is where positions will come in clash, as deputies come with clear stands on what can and cannot be included, so this is the most interesting part of what is happening here», he said.
In this regard, 4 September this year it will be clear whether an important statement will be made regarding quantitative easing, or whether ministers will recommend the leaders to remain neutral without any comments, as comments sometimes generate excessive expectations and excess volatility, Storchak noted.
