Former US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party Hillary Clinton encouraged to actively fight against the flow of fake news in mass and social media, BBC reports.
According to Clinton, for the last year, social media were struck by the epidemic of “harmful fake news and false propaganda”, which should be fought against at the state level as well as at private sector level.
“Today we understand that the so-called fake news can have global consequences. It concerns not only politics or party membership. It threatens lives of ordinary people, who just live their lives, do their job for the benefit of their society”, she claimed.
During the election campaign, Clinton dominated false news headlines, spread over the Internet.
The message was spread in social media that Clinton and Chairman of her presidential campaign John Podesta were allegedly associated with the structure, conducting sexual exploitation of children, to which also belonged the owner of family pizzeria Comet Ping Pong James Alefantis. In social media, the scandal was named “pizzagate”.
On Monday, the citizen of North Carolina was arrested after he forced entry with a gun to the restaurant Comet Ping Pong in Washington. He explained that he wanted to find out the truth regarding scandalous news.
